Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases 1 (Erythroid Potentiating Activity, EPA, Collagenase Inhibitor, CI)
TIMP-1and TIMP-2 have similar properties, specifically in inhibiting enzymes of matrix metalloproteinase family, and are thought to be of great importance in the maintenance of connective tissue integrity. TIMP-1 forms a complex of 1:1 stoichiometry with activated interstitial collagenase, activated stromelysin, active form of 72kD Type IV collagenase (also known as MMP-2 or gelatinase A), and latent and active forms of 92kD Type IV collagenase (also known as MMP-9 or gelatinase B). TIMPs inhibit the proteolytic invasiveness of tumor cells and normal placental trophoblast cells.

Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Western Blot: 5-10ug/ml. Recognizes a band at ~28-30kD in reduced samples.
Immunohistochemistry: 1ug/section
ELISA: 5ug/ml
Optimal dilution to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Recognizes human TIMP (Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase). Recognizes native and denatured TIMP and TIMP in and out of enzyme/inhibitor complex. Does not crossreact with other human proteins tested. Not known to inhibit biological activity. Species Crossreactivity: rabbit, sheep, bovine, rat, equine and ferret
