Dextrose Tryptone Agar is recommended for the determination of mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria in sweetening agents used in frozen desserts. Bromcresol purple is used as a pH indicator. When isolating thermophilic bacteria use 55°C as a plating temperature.
Dissolve 30grams per liter of distilled/ deionized (DDI) water, heating with stirring until completely solubilized.
Dispense into appropriate containers, loosen caps and autoclave for 15 minutes at 121ºC (15psi)
Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept at 4°C and used within a short period of time.
