KRT8 typically dimerizes with keratin 18 to form an intermediate filament in simple single-layered epithelial cells. This protein plays a role in maintaining cellular structural integrity and also functions in signal transduction and cellular differentiation.

Applications
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Immunohistochemistry: (frozen tissue and paraffin-embedded sections after microwave treatment) 1:10; Incubation Time 1 hr at RT. Optimal dilution determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Cytoskeletal proteins from cultured HeLa cells.
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.5% BSA, 0.09% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 1ml sterile ddH2O.
Purity
Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes Cytokeratin 8. Species Crossreactivity: human, mouse, rat, tupaia belangeri. monodelphis domestica, hamster. Does not crossreact with bovine. Cultured Cell Crossreactivity: MCF-7, RT 112, PLC. Tumor Crossreactivity: all adenocarcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma, cervix and hepatocellular carcinoma. Recognizes MR 52,500 polypeptide (cytokeratin 8) of human epithelia. Represents an excellent marker to discriminate simple epithelia from those of different origin.
