Immunoglobulin M

Immunoglobulin M (IgM) is produced as a 900kD pentamer, which is an efficient complement binder. This antibody type is produced initially in the immune response and it is the first immunoglobulin class to be synthesized by a fetus or newborn. IgM antibodies do not cross the placenta. IgM concentration in blood is 0.12g/l and its biological survival (plasma T1/2) is 5 days.

Applications
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Flow Cytometry: 1-4ug/ml. Extracellular and intracellular staining. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Store product at 4°C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: PE conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Purified human IgM.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.09% sodium azide. Labeled with R-Phycoerythrin (PE).
Purity
Purified by size-exclusion chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human IgM, Fc-region localized epitope.
