PDLIM7 (PDZ and LIM domain 7) is a representative of a family of proteins composed of conserved PDZ and LIM domains. The LIM domains of this protein bind to protein kinases, whereas the PDZ domain binds to actin filaments. It is likely to act as a scaffold for the formation of multiprotein complexes. It may play a role as an adapter that, via its PDZ domain, localizes LIM-binding proteins to actin filaments of both skeletal muscle and nonmuscle tissues. PDLIM7 is involved in the fundamental mechanisms of bone formation and is involved in the BMP signaling pathway. There are six isoforms.
