Green fluorescent protein is a 27kD protein produced from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria, which emits green light (emission peak at a wavelength of 509nm) when excited by blue light. GFP is an important tool in cell biology research. GFP is widely used enabling researchers to visualize and localize GFP-tagged proteins within living cells without the need for chemical staining. GFP is ideal for Cell Biology, Neuroscience and Cancer research.

Applications
Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
ELISA:1:20,000-1:120,000 Western Blot: 1:500-1:5000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Recombinant protein corresponding to full length GFP from jellyfish Aequorea victoria.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in 0.02M potassium phosphate, 0.15M sodium chloride, pH 7.2, 0.01% sodium azide.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes GFP. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum and purified and partially purified Green Fluorescent Protein (Aequorea victoria). No reaction was observed against human, mouse or rat serum proteins. Reacts with GFP, eGFP, rGFP, RS-GFP, S65T-GFP, YFP
