BAFF is a master regulator of peripheral B cell survival and, together with IL-6, promotes Ig class-switching and plasma cell differentiation. BAFF co-stimulates activated T cells. Increased levels of soluble BAFF have been detected in the serum of patients with various autoimmune diseases, such as Sjogren’s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Furthermore, BAFF is found in inflammatory sites in which there is lymphoid neogenesis. BAFF levels are elevated in patients with multiple myeloma and B cell chronic lymphoid leukemia (B-CCL).

Applications
Suitable for use in Immunoprecipitation and Blocking. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Immunoprecipitation: 1:200 Blocking: Inhibition of mouse BAFF binding to BAFF-R and TACI (BCMA not tested); blocks BAFF activity in mice. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Endotoxin
<0.01EU/ug purified protein (LAL test; Lonza)
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Recombinant protein corresponding to mouse BAFF.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.02% sodium azide, 10% glycerol.
Purity
Purified by Protein G affinity chromatography from concentrated hybridoma tissue culture supernatant.
Specificity
Recognizes mouse BAFF.
