Human CD56 is an adhesion molecule from the Ig superfamily which is restricted to NK cells in the immune system. It is believed that NK cells form a first line of defense against tumor cells and cells infected with bacteria and viruses.

Applications
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Flow Cytometry: 10ug/ml (80ul) labels 5x10e5 cells Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Flow Cytometry Protocol
1. Five x 10e5 ficoll prepared from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells per tube were washed and preincubated for ~5 minutes with 20ul of 300ug/ml human IgG (to block nonspecific binding). 2. They were for incubated 45 minutes on ice with 80 ul of C2410-55D at 10ug/ml. 3. Cells were washed twice and incubated with S7973-88P, after which they were washed twice, fixed and analyzed by FACS. 4. A net 24% sub population of the cells stained positive with a mean shift of 1.38 log10 fluorescent units when compared to a Mouse IgG1/Biotin isotype control. Binding was blocked when cells were preincubated with 20ul of 0.5mg/ml C2410-55C.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Recombinant human CD56 (truncated domains 1-4 only)
Form
Supplied as a liquid in 50mM sodium phosphate, pH 7.5, 100mM potassium chloride, 150mM sodium chloride, 0.2% BSA, 0.04% sodium azide, 5% glycerol. Labeled with Biotin.
Purity
Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography from tissue culture supernatant
Specificity
Recognizes an epitope within the 1st four Ig-like domains of the human CD56 molecule.
