SETD8 (hPR-SET7) is a histone methyltransferase that adds a single methyl group to 'Lys-20' of histone H4. H4 'Lys-20' methylation represents a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression. SETD8 (hPR-SET7) is located in the nucleus and may play a role in maintaining silent chromatin by preventing neighboring acetylation of H4 tail.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Positive Control
HeLa nuclear extract.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to human SETD8 (hPR-SET7).

Supplied as a liquid in 0.1M Tris-glycine, pH 7.4, 0.15mM sodium chloride, 0.05% sodium azide.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human SETD8. Species sequence homology: mouse, rat (100%).
