Urodilatin is a natriuretic peptide isolated from human urine and belongs to the family of A type natriuretic peptides. Urodilatin is differentially processed to a peptide of 32aa from the same precursor as ANP. It is synthesized in kidney tubular cells and secreted luminally. After secretion from epithelial cells of the distal and/or connecting tubules, Urodilatin interacts downstream at distal segments of the nephron with luminally located receptors whereby it regulates Na(+) and water reabsorption. Thus, the physiological function of the renal Urodilatin system can be described as a paracrine intrarenal regulator for Na(+) and water homeostasis, considering Urodilatin as a real diuretic natriuretic regulatory peptide.

Applications
Suitable for use in ELISA, RIA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Synthetic human Urodilatin (pro-ANP aa 95-101)-ßAC KLH conjugated (TAPRSLR)-ßAC
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in PBS, pH 7.2. Reconstitute in ddH2O.
Purity
Serum
Specificity
Recognizes synthetic human Urodilatin. There were no cross reactivities obtained with human ANP (aa 1-28) (< 0,1%); human pro-ANP (aa 1-98) (< 0,1%); human pro-ANP (aa 79-98) (< 0,1%); human BNP (< 0,1%); and human CNP (< 0,1%).
