This protein is a member of the receptor tyrosine kinase subfamily. Although it is similar to other receptor tyrosine kinases, this protein represents a unique structure of the extracellular region that juxtaposes IgL and FNIII repeats. It transduces signals from the extracellular matrix into the cytoplasm by binding growth factors like vitamin K-dependent protein growth-arrest-specific gene 6. It is involved in the stimulation of cell proliferation and can also mediate cell aggregation by homophilic binding. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.

Sample Type
Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates
Intended Use
For the quantitative determination of mouse Tyrosine-protein kinase receptor UFO (AXL) concentrations in serum, plasma and tissue homogenates.
Sensitivity
7.81pg/ml
Range
31.25-2000pg/ml
Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of mouse AXL. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between mouse AXL and analogues was observed.
Test Principle
This BioAssay™ employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for AXL has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any AXL present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for AXL is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of AXL bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
