Cell Attachment Reagent (FNC Coating Mix, BRFF AF-10) is formulated to dramatically increase the attachment of cells to the plastic growth substratum used for culturing mammalian cell lines. Many fastidious cell types such as human prostate and breast epithelial cells plated in the appropriate serum-free medium will attach and grow more effectively on FNC-coated plastic surfaces.

Cell Attachment Reagent can increase the survival rate of cell lines from 5% to 95% during the cell growth transfer process. Lab researchers typically use small flasks or glass plates to grow cell lines, then transfer them two times to larger surfaces as the cells proliferate. Traditionally only 5% of the cell lines survive each time they are transferred. The Cell Attachment Reagent coats the flasks and plates with a polymer that helps the cells attach faster, averting the high rate of cell death. Most cell types such as human prostate, breast and epithelial (skin) cells will attach and grow well on FNC-coated surfaces.
pH
7.4 ± 0.2
Color
Light to medium pink due to pH indicator. Color has no effect upon performance of product.
Conductivity
13-20mS
Sterility Test
No detectable microbial growth.
Functional Test
>50% cell attachment to coated plastic substratum vs uncoated substratium.
Recommended Usage
To coat the growth surface, add 0.2ml/cm2 of surface area of the culture vessel. For example, use 5ml for a T-25 flask. The surface should be completely covered with a layer of liquid. Incubate for 30 seconds. Remove the Cell Attachment Reagent with a pipet. Residual Cell Attachment Reagent will not adversely affect the viability of the cells to be plated. Do not return any “used” reagent to the original container. This will compromise the performance of the product. The coating may be performed immediately or up to one hour prior to seeding the cells.
Storage and Stability
Store at 4°C. Do Not Freeze. Stable for 6 months.
Note: Color is light to medium pink due to presence of pH indicator. Variations in color has no effect upon performance of product. Color fades with age.
Important Note
This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological.
Toxicity and Hazards
All products should be handled by qualified personnel only, trained in laboratory procedures.
